1.  SER and ESTAR are two Spanish verbs which mean TO BE.

This video aims to give young children a feel of when to use ‘yo soy’ (1st person of SER) as opposed to ‘yo estoy’ (1st person of ESTAR):

2.  More ‘SER’ and ‘ESTAR’, still in the present tense, this time including lots of examples of the use of ‘Estar’ before the gerund – e.g. ‘I am sleeping’, ‘You are eating’, He is resting’ etc..:

3.  Practice using the imperfect tense:  A NEW PUPPY!

Introducing a new puppy with the imperfect tense. Audio in Spanish with English subtitles. Ser, Tener and Ir are highlighted at the end.

Our puppy arrives is a less advanced version of the ‘story’ below in the present tense with audio in English as well as Spanish – useful for those teaching themselves or practising at home.
